Chapter Eight – Promoting With Traditional Print
Another thing you should be doing is hitting the streets with traditional print. Create postcards with a clear call to action and a coupon code for visiting and place them at nearby outlet that have similar target market to you. Leave these postcards at the cash registers and bulletin boards of nearby businesses.
Try nail-salons, spas, wine shops, really anything you can think of that is in line with your target customer’s lifestyle. Then, try all of the shops that are in line with your customer’s lifestyle in a 5 or 10 mile radius. Make sure you ask the managers or owners of the shops if you can leave the flyers there for their customers to pick up.
Check if there is nearby hotels near your pop-up, tourists love to discover something unique. Check with the concierge desk and see if you can leave a stack of flyers with them.
Within a few days before your launch, walk around the general area where your pop-up store will be located and pass out the flyers to everyone you see. You can hire someone to do this or you can do it yourself if you have the time. Try to hand out as many flyers as you possibly can. Make sure you are friendly with people and answer any questions they might have.
The most important marketing and promotional tool you need to make your pop-up store a success is hustle. You will have to give it your all if you expect to make a temporary retail experiment work.
